Moon Jellyfish
Moon jellyfish are the most commonly seen jellyfish around Southend Pier. They are easily recognizable by their transparent, bell-shaped bodies and the white or pinkish four-leaf clover pattern formed by their gonads. Moon jellyfish drift with the currents and feed on plankton, using tiny tentacles to capture their prey. While harmless to humans, their presence is a reminder of the estuary's rich biodiversity.
